Borobudur

The complex of temples at Borobudur, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest Buddhist temple on the entire globe. It was constructed in the eighth century and is one of Indonesia's most popular tourist destinations. The temple is a wonder of Buddhist architectural style, with many platforms built on top of one another, and it is finished with a majestic dome that stares down on them. The temple is also ornamented with a large number of Buddha statues and relief panels, the majority of which are still in shape. The bustling city of Yogyakarta is only 45 minutes away from the temple site.

The primary Borobudur temple and two additional smaller temples, the Mendut and Pawon Temples, make up the complex's three buildings. It resumed its usage as a house of worship when UNESCO conducted extensive repair work in 1973. A few of the tales depicted in the temple's panels and reliefs are the birth of Buddha and Prince Siddhartha. The Borobudur temple complex is viewed from a different angle during sunrise tours, which are incredibly popular.
