Land Based on fishing Turkey Beach
Land-based fishing around Turkey Beach is great if you are willing to explore via 4wd into more remote spots. Low tides are great for this, as anglers can walk the banks and cast lures into the small ponds that fish are trapped in. This is an effective approach to target Mangrove Jack mainly in the warmer months.

The flats around Turkey Beach township are a good place to pump for yabbies, and on a high tide will produce Flathead, Bream, and Whiting all year round.

Fishing Turkey Beach by Boat
Turkey Beach is heavily commercial-fished, so fishing can be tough at times, having some spots in mind and a game plan is the best way to guarantee success. Mud crabs are around but you must work the tides as many spots dry out on a low tide.

For lure-based anglers, the smaller tributaries fish well on an incoming tide for Mangrove Jack in the warmer months. By catches will include Bream, Cod, and Flathead with the odd barramundi. Some anglers will head upstream and wait for the tide to go out to fish the remaining pools of water for mangrove Jacks. The mud/sand flats produce whiting, bream, and flathead. There are several patches of grass/weed which is a great foraging place for Bream and Whiting.

In Winter the big bays fill with clear water where anglers can sight cast at schools of Blue Salmon, the bigger Salmon can also be found up to 100cm, however, they mainly travel in pairs and are more flighty.
