Dance

Some examples of traditional dances throughout France includes Forlane, Musette, Menuet, and Sarabande. The most popular traditional dance is the Bourree and the belle danse. These two dances are the ones that are often performed in country and cultural centers for visitors of France.
France is famous for developing ballet. In 1581 the Ballet comique de la reine was performed at the French court of Catherine de Médicis. Because it fused the elements of music, dance, plot, and design into a dramatic whole, it is considered the first ballet.
The farandole. This open-chain community dance has been danced in France for centuries, most notably in the south-east region of Provence. In fact, rumor has it the farandole is the oldest traditional dance in the country.

Apache, or La Danse Apache, Bowery Waltz, Apache Turn, Apache Dance and Tough Dance is a highly dramatic dance associated in popular culture with Parisian street culture at the beginning of the 20th century.
